- Sandy Koufax grew so
- frustrated with playing
- baseball at the beginning
- of his career, he
- considered quitting. But
- with hard work, the left-hander became an
- All-Star pitcher for the Dodgers, after the team
- moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles.

- In high school, Sandy was such a good
- basketball player that he earned a basketball
- scholarship to the University of Cincinnati
- (Ohio). But baseball scouts knew he had
- great talent in their sport. In 1955, at the age
- of 19, Sandy signed a contract with his
- hometown team, the Brooklyn Dodgers.

- several years, he had a lot of trouble
